Summary The project aims to highlight the nature of the suburbs in ancient Greco-Roman cities of Cyrenaica by studying the suburban activity and function of the various buildings and other structures outside the limits of the urban core.

- To identify and interpret the physical remains of ancient buildings in order to figure out their economic, religious, political and social purposes, and their relationship to each other and with the surrounding environment, as well as, their relationship with the urban core.
- To shed some light on the current destruction that threatens the archaeological sites located in the suburbs due to modern development and or other factors.
- To search for evidence of range of activities and to record as many as possible of ancient physical sites scattered outside the city walls, in particular recent discovered sites.
